How Energy Healing Unlocked a 40-Year Family Secret

I recently had the absolute pleasure of returning as a “repeat offender” (which sounds much more fun than a repeat guest) on Marley Majcher’s fantastic podcast, Every Day is a Train Wreck. Today, we are diving deep into a topic you might not expect from me: energy healing for entrepreneurs.

Usually, when I am on a podcast, we talk strictly about business strategy, time management, and scaling. But this time? We went completely off the rails into one of the most profound, mind-blowing experiences of my life: energy healing, family secrets, and a literal trial by fire.

The Spark: Why Energy Healing for Entrepreneurs Matters

It all started on my own show, the Happy Productive Podcast. A woman named Donna, an energy clearer based in Australia, was pitched to be a guest. As we talked about how business owners need to clear their energy to succeed, I was captivated.

I have done four years of intense trauma therapy. I have done the inner work. But when Donna started talking about clearing the family lines through something called Family Constellation Healing, an intuitive bell went off in my head.

I knew I had to work with her. Why? Because I have a very unusual family history. I did not find out I had a different biological father until I was 21 years old. I was raised by a man who was toxic and abusive, alongside a mother who was equally toxic. My family line was a tangled mess of secrets and trauma.

I signed up for a 90-day program. What followed was nothing short of cinematic.

The Magic Papers: Stepping Out of the Shadows

Donna and I worked over Zoom, me in my office in upstate New York, her in Australia.

When exploring energy healing for entrepreneurs, her method was fascinating. She had me take two blank sheets of paper. I would write a number one on one, and a number two on the other. Without knowing who or what the papers represented, she had me place them intuitively on my floor in relation to the light coming from my window.

I placed the first paper facing the light. I placed the second paper directly behind it, hidden in the shadows.

When I physically stepped onto the first paper, the energy was incredible, bright, excited, and happy. When I stepped onto the second paper, it felt sad, hidden, and dark.

After the exercise, Donna revealed who the papers represented. The first paper was my biological father, a man I had never met. The second paper was me.

For 40 years, I had been the family secret. I had literally been living in the shadows behind a man who had not been allowed to be in my life. In that session, we cleared that energy, took my paper out of the shadows, and placed me where I belonged: in the position of a daughter.

The Internet Sleuthing and a Shocking Discovery

Years prior, my amazing husband Doug had tracked down my biological father on the phone, but the man had declined to speak with me. His wife, Penny, secretly sent me a beautiful letter explaining what a good man he was, but confirming he was honoring a past agreement to stay away. I was hurt, angry, and I let it go.

But after stepping off those papers and feeling that bright, loving energy, I felt compelled to reach out again. It was time.

I jumped online to find an updated address for Penny. Instead, my search resulted in two mic-drop moments.

First, I found my biological father’s obituary. He had passed away a few years prior. Looking at his photo for the very first time in my life, I realized I looked just like him.

Second, I found Penny’s obituary. She had passed away just two years after him.

Both of them took the family secret to the grave. But through those obituaries, I found a thread. I had a half-sister in Arizona with a unique last name.

The Phone Call That Changed Everything

I did some cyber-stalking, found her number, and left a highly cryptic voicemail.

While Doug and I were out to dinner, my phone rang. I stepped outside and had a deeply emotional conversation with my sister. She had suspected something was amiss for years but never had proof. I was the missing puzzle piece.

Since that phone call, we have met in person twice. We are actively building a relationship. I am finally getting to know the family I was hidden from. And I learned that my biological father was a wonderful, protective man who restored race cars, rode four-wheelers, and loved adrenaline, traits I completely inherited.

The Grand Finale: Trial by Fire

The story does not end there. Donna and I had one final energy session left. We had purposely put off dealing with the energy of the toxic father who raised me because neither of us wanted to touch it.

Finally, we did it.

When I placed his paper on the floor, I intuitively shoved it as far away from the light as possible. Standing on it was awful. The energy was incredibly dark. We did the work to completely sever and clear those ties.

When we finished, I told Donna I just wanted to get this paper out of my house. It was the dead of winter in New York. Pitch black. A foot of snow on the ground. I looked out my window and saw flames.

My husband, for absolutely no logical reason, had gone into the freezing backyard and started a fire in our fire pit. I ran outside, paper in hand, and threw it into the flames. The chapter was permanently closed.

The Lesson: Heal Your Sh*t

People can be skeptical of energy healing for entrepreneurs. They can call it a placebo or say it is crazy. But as Marley and I concluded on the podcast: Who cares? If it helps you clear decades of trauma, if it connects you to your family, and if it makes you feel lighter, more grounded, and more powerful, do it.

Since that clearing, a heavy weight has lifted. I feel the supportive energy of a biological father I never got to physically meet, and the toxic energy of my past has been burned away.

In business and in life, we carry invisible baggage. It affects our relationships, our income ceilings, and our joy. Pay attention to your intuition. When you feel called to do the weird, unconventional healing work, follow it.
